What do others have to say about the SOMD Boat Club?

"The boats are available ALL YEAR ROUND! I caught a 48"/40lbs Striper on an SOMD boat, in the middle of February." - Ray Dodson, SOMD Boat Club Member since 2012.

"My wife and planned on buying a boat this summer, fortunately we discovered SOMD Boat Club first. Wow, what a much better way to enjoy the water with my family and friends. All we have to do is show up and use it. No trailering, storage, or maintainence. We have taken each of the different boats out several times and love that we can pick a vessel for the activity we are doing. Colton's Point Marina is a top notch facility with great staff and all of the ammenities you could want. We highly recommend SOMD Boat Club." - David Cox, SOMD Boat Club Member since 2018.

"We have been in the SOMD boat club for 3.5 years and have enjoyed the convenience and fun of boating, without the hassle of actually owning a boat. You simply log on and reserve a time then show up and go have fun. We have gone tubing, skiing, fishing, cruising, and have visited local, on-the-water restaurants. We have never had an issue getting a satisfactory time slot, even on holiday weekends. Being in the SOMD boat club is certainly much cheaper than owning your own boat (which we have done in the past so I can speak from experience). You dont have to worry about maintenance, unscheduled repairs, insurance, storage, winterization, etc. You simply pay the annual fee and enjoy. The only additional cost each time out is for fuel, of course. The boats are well-maintained and cared for, and the staff at Coltons Point is very friendly and knowledgeable. I strongly recommend the SOMD boat club!" - John Deems, SOMD Boat Club Member since 2014.

"I joined the Southern Maryland Boat Club (SOMD Boat Club) in August 2016, after buying a house on the Potomac River. My original plan was to try out the 4 different boats available for club members and get a better idea of what kind of boat I might buy. What I discovered is that with this new sharing economy, becoming a member of a boat club like SOMD Boat Club was actually a much better option for me. To begin with, the great team at SOMD Boat Club service and maintain all the boats so I simply go online and reserve the boat I want and it?s fueled and ready to go when I show up. All I have to do is pay my reasonable annual fee and for the actual fuel I use. Having a fleet of different size and type boats is also a big plus as usually I am just going out with my partner so the smaller 180 Sportsman usually fits our needs best but in the summer when relatives and friends are visiting, we have the larger boats to choose from like the 23? cuddy cabin. So whether it?s taking the kids out tubing, fishing or just cruising with my friends, SOMD has the right boat for me. In my 2 years of membership, I have almost always been able to reserve the boat of my choice. And finally, the great team who operate the SOMD Boat Club are warm and friendly and have been wonderful about maintaining my fleet and ensuring I always have good day out on the water." - Tami Overby, SOMD Boat Club Member since 2016.

"My family has really enjoyed being a member of SoMD boat club. The boat fleet is well maintained and reliable. We love being able to enjoy boating without having the responsibility of boat ownership such as mechanical repairs, providing fuel, winterizing, or storing the boats. Everything is taken care of. Colton Point is also a great location because we can enjoy the beach at Shark Tooth Island, fish, and have a safe place to pull the kids in the tube all with in 30 mins from leaving the marina. The fleet variety also has allowed us to experience different types of boats to help narrow down what kind of boat best fits our family. We have been very happy with the staff as well." - DeNeah Cox, SOMD Boat Club Member since 2018.
